{"id":1585,"date":"2010-11-29T06:57:00","date_gmt":"2010-11-29T06:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/projects\/horsesforsources\/hfs-lse3_111210\/"},"modified":"2010-11-29T06:57:00","modified_gmt":"2010-11-29T06:57:00","slug":"hfs-lse3_111210","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.horsesforsources.com\/hfs-lse3_111210\/","title":{"rendered":"The Industry Speaks about Cloud, Part III: business and IT finally agree &#8211; IT must tool-up to enable cloud business services"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<p><strong>Savvy CIOs are developing themselves into Cloud-enablers&nbsp;by honing their sourcing and service integration skills.<\/strong> Our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.horsesforsources.com\/hfs-lse_091410\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cloud Business Services study<\/a>, conducted in&nbsp;conjunction&nbsp;with the Outsourcing Unit at the London School of Economics, contrasts many differing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.horsesforsources.com\/hfs-lse2_111110\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">views and expectations<\/a> from business and IT executives about Cloud business services&#8230; however, both sides do <em>agree<\/em> on one thing &mdash; the crucial <em>enablement role<\/em> that&nbsp;IT executives&nbsp;must&nbsp;adopt in order&nbsp;to provision Cloud business&nbsp;services.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">While business execs are more gung-ho on Cloud&nbsp;than their risk-averse IT counterparts, both sides agree on who should enable this &#8211; it&#8217;s going to be the&nbsp;IT function. The survey reveals that&nbsp;42 per-cent of business respondents&nbsp;expect to&nbsp;rely <em>extensively<\/em> on their own in-house IT function to implement a move to the Cloud:<\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_5544\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.horsesforsources.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/Future-of-Work3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5544 \" title=\"Future of Work 3\" src=\"http:\/\/www.horsesforsources.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/Future-of-Work3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"573\" height=\"434\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p><strong>The bottom-line:&nbsp; Cloud business services creates a massive opportunity for the IT department&nbsp;to realign itself to the business <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>HfS sees the future of the inhouse IT function as being the <em>conduit<\/em> between the business and the providers delivering&nbsp;Cloud business services.&nbsp; The successful IT&nbsp;executives will be those who&nbsp;develop governance expertise in sourcing and service integration to make Cloud a reality.<\/p>\n<p>Business stakeholders want Cloud, and they know smart CIOs can mitigate their risks.&nbsp; However, HfS believes IT professionals <em>must<\/em> tool-up to deliver cloud to their business stakeholders,&nbsp;otherwise they&nbsp;risk a gap growing between business demand and IT supply. Tooling-up for the Cloud calls on CIOs to develop new internal skills and embracing third-party expertise to accelerate the sourcing of Cloud services.&nbsp; Security, compliance, and&nbsp;integration are huge issues that predicate success with Cloud, as our survey will reveal when released later this week.
